I was born in 1981 in Wolverhampton, which is in the UK, part of the
infamous 'Black Country'.
I picked up on music when I was about 7 years old and learnt the flute,
from this I progressed to saxophone, and then became pretty enamoured
by the guitar. After playing in bands for a couple of years, i decided
it was time i wrote some solo music, and began recording my own tracks
on a 4-track Tascam desk, using a crappy casio keyboard, guitar and eventually
a 606. With a bit of time and a lot of effort I managed to develop the
sound to encompass synths and electronic percussion, and eventually I
bought some more gear.
I sent a couple of demos off to labels I was enjoying at the time, and
luckily I had a reply from Lee Metamatics. He asked me for a track for
the CI2 comp, and maybe an ep. I began to compile tracks I had been writing,
and made a few more. A couple of years later and 'Frosty Mornings And
Summer Nights' was released.
While I was waiting for the release of that album, I met Gabriel Morley,
the stranded Los Angeles stoner. Here was a man with a taste for expensive
food and glitchy beats. Together we forged an album 'Where We're From,
The Birds Sing A Pretty Song' influenced by our love for filmmaker David
Lynch, and his twisted visions.
I got some money from all this and bought a Microphone, which allowed
me to bring my lovely guitar back into the mix. Thanks to this, and thanks
to meeting my lovely Monika, I wrote a selection of love songs on accoustic
guitar. After some careful production and packaging, they were released
as 'Tangled Wool'.
More to come!
